New: Spanish for residents and Socrates, Leonardo and Erasmus students
The Spanish department of MareLingua language school
has just set up its “Spanish course for residents and
students”. This course is especially for students with
an intermediate level in Spanish language and who
would like to improve it. The contents are orientated
towards everyday situations. Ordering in bars and
restaurants, shopping, banking, or dealing with local
authorities are just some of the situations that will
be discussed in class. It is also possible to come up
with own suggestions.
The course is held twice a week on Monday and
Wednesday from 6 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. Our highly
experienced teacher, Álvaro, created the material
especially for this class and knows all about
lifestyle, history, customs and gossip of this city.
His knowledge helps students enhance their Spanish. In
the course we deal with all aspects of the language,
just like oral skills, reading and listening
comprehension or grammar. Nevertheless, the main focus
remains on teaching Spanish for use in everyday
situations.
You can join this course for as low as 159 Euros (3
month payment). It is, of course, also possible to pay
monthly (60 Euros/month). There are no additional
enrolment fees or material to be paid. Please do not
hesitate to give us a call to enrol or to get further
information. We will gratefully take your call from
Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and in the
afternoon from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Chocolate con churros
“Chocolate con churros” is one of the most traditional breakfasts in Malaga. Hot chocolate is poured into a ceramic mug where you can dunk the “churros”. Churros are made of dough consisting of: flour, sugar, salt and water which is then fried. There are a lot of cafes or shops where you can see the “Malagueños” having this delicious snack, but we in Marelingua suggest the Café Aranda, on Herrería del Rey Street or Café Madrid on Calderería Street
The fair in Málaga 2007

There are still over two months left for the Feria of Malaga that will take place from the 11th to the 19th of August so everybody is getting ready for “fiesta” dancing and getting together with friends. You can go for a stroll at the fairgrounds or around the city centre.
The language academies of Malaga have many inscriptions and reservations made for August and we cannot avoid thinking that the main reason is the Fair of Malaga that is nestled in the heart of the locals as well as of the foreign visitors who year after year come back for more.
We inevitably must work in summer, the Fair allows us to have a “breather” because many students do not come to class on time and this lets us have a more relaxed atmosphere in class.
Also hotels, inns and hostels are sometimes booked due to Feria week, so much so that later in the month it is practically impossible to find a room at a reasonable price. Most hostels have their “no vacancy” sign up from the first day of Feria.
We still don’t know what it will be like this year, nor which artists will act, nor who will be the matadors that will fight the bulls in the Malagueta, but we do know that this year “MTV Malaga Summer” will take place again as part of the inauguration of the Feria. After the renowned success of last year’s show with the participation of Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias and Pignoise; the City Council of Malaga has decided to repeat it because of all the news that it brought to Malaga last year. The show was broadcasted to many different countries like Russia, Finland, Germany, U.S.A. and Latin America.
We all hope that in 2007 we can obtain the same results as for the previous year. We aslso hope that Malaga and its Feria will continue to be our reference within Andalusia with its rich culture, gastronomy and folklore.
Marelingua´s blog is finally here!!!!!!!!
Welcome!
As you can see, academia de idiomas Marelingua; in its eagerness to break through this difficult world of languages, has set up a corporate blog so you can comment and give your opinion about any subject.
Periodically we are going to include articles, commentaries, opinions, publishing houses and all types of information in English, French, German and Spanish, that will be very useful and interesting for all us who love languages and that believe Málaga to be the best place in the world to learn Spanish.
We can’t deny that we’re new at this so we will ask you to bear with us if there are any mistakes which you might find. You have our word that we’ll always put our best into making this blog as close to “perfect” as possible. We are sure that, with your help, we will obtain a worthy and independent website.
Sincerely,
The team at Marelingua
